Join Louisa Moats and Evelyn Johnson for a discussion about dyslexia. The conversation will include a focus on better understanding what dyslexia is, learning why it is difficult for students with dyslexia to receive adequate services in schools, and discussion possible solutions.
Dr. Moats has been a teacher, psychologist, researcher, graduate school faculty member, and author of many influential scientific journal articles, books, and policy papers on the topics of reading, spelling, language, and teacher preparation. She led the committee that developed the International Dyslexia Association’s Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading.
Dr. Johnson is the Scientific Director of Lee Pesky Learning Center and a Professor of Special Education at Boise State University. Her research and teaching are focused on improving instruction and outcomes for students with learning disabilities. She is the author of several textbooks and articles on response-to-intervention, screening for academic intervention, special education teacher preparation and special education teacher observation
