Bureau of Land Management Public Meeting

March 2 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The Community Library Lecture Room, 415 Spruce Ave North
Ketchum, ID 83340 United States

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Challis Field Office (CFO) and Salmon-Challis National Forest (SCNF) have developed a draft plan for the Jim McClure-Jerry Peak (JMJP) Wilderness and are hosting a public meeting to obtain feedback and comments. This meeting will provide a formal opportunity for individuals to meet agency management, review plan documents and ask questions. The Wilderness Act provides a mandate for agencies to preserve wilderness character and instructs them to develop a plan, within the parameters set forth in the legislation, for future management actions. The JMJP Wilderness is the easternmost of the three wilderness areas created under Cong. Simpson’s legislation. The JMJP area includes BLM-managed lands as well as Salmon-Challis Forest lands, and therefore the JMJP wilderness plan will be developed jointly by the BLM and the Forest Service. Following the scoping period, the USFS and BLM will revise the Wilderness Management Plan based on input they receive and will develop an environmental assessment. Subsequently, the revised Plan and environmental assessment will be provided for public comment; anticipated for late fall 2017
